Description

What is Viagra?

Viagra is the most well-known treatment for adult men with erectile dysfunction, sometimes known as impotence. This is when a man cannot get, or keep a hard, erect penis suitable for sexual activity. Viagra is one of a class of drugs known as PDE-5 (Phosphodiesterase type 5) inhibitors. Viagra and the other PDE-5 inhibitors can help men with erectile dysfunction (male impotence) by enhancing the erectile response when a man is sexually stimulated.

Why Viagra?

Viagra has been on sale since 1998 and it has become famous as the ‘little blue pill’ that gives men the ability to combat impotence. In July 2013, the patent on Viagra expired, meaning that competitors of Pfizer (the pharmaceutical company responsible for Viagra) have been able to produce a form of Sildenafil that is medically the same and achieves the same results. Nevertheless, many people still choose to buy Viagra above rival impotency drugs because of its proven success over more than 20 years.

The benefits of Viagra include:

  • Improved ability to achieve and maintain an erection
  • Increased confidence in your ability to achieve and maintain an erection
  • Improved hardness of erection
  • Readiness for sexual activity in as little as 60 minutes

Viagra has been developed for use by men:

  • Regardless of age
  • No matter how severe erectile dysfunction may be
  • Who have undergone a prostatectomy (or have had partial removal of the prostate)

How to use

How to take Viagra

Take Viagra (Sildenafil) approximately one hour before you intend to have intercourse to achieve best results. Typically the window in which this erectile dysfunction treatment works is between 30 minutes and 4 hours, enabling you to achieve a hard erection during sexual arousal.

A tablet should be taken with water and may be ingested at meal times or between meals. It is worth noting, however, that when taking Viagra (Sildenafil) during or soon after a heavy, high fat meal, it may take longer for the drug to begin working.

Choosing Strength

The recommend starting dose for Viagra (Sildenafil) is one 50mg tablet taken 1 hour before sexual activity. Always follow the directions attached to your prescription, and if in doubt, consult a health professional before ingesting any medicine.

If you achieve the desired effect but suffer from unwanted side effects as a result of taking a 50mg Viagra tablet, try lowering the dose to 25mg the next time you require it. Should you try a 50mg tablets four times without the desired effect, and you are not experiencing side effects, it is possible to increase the dose to 100mg.

If, after trying 100mg 8 separate times without effect, you should cease treatment and consult your doctor. You should not takeViagra more than once a day as this will have not increase the effectiveness and may increase the likelihood of experiencing side effects.

Other Precautions

Do not split tablets. Splitting tablets can lead to inadequate doses, making the treatment ineffective.

Do not use other erectile dysfunction medicines or treatments at the same time as Viagra (Sildenafil). Mixing Viagra with sildenafil, Levitra or Cialis or another impotence drug can be dangerous for your health. It is also worth discussing any other medicines with your doctor before any course of erectile dysfunction treatment. Some drugs may interact with Viagra or counteract its effectiveness.

Do not take Viagra if you are allergic to Sildenafil. If you experience any symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your healthcare provider immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include a rash, hives, or swelling of the lips, tongue or throat. This can swiftly lead to difficulty breathing and swallowing, so alerting a medical professional is essential under these rare circumstances.

Avoid drinking too much alcohol when taking Viagra. Drinking alcohol can increase the likelihood of certain side effects, such as headaches and dizziness. Excessive consumption of alcohol also counteracts the effectiveness of any impotence medication and makes it harder to establish an erection.

Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice. Grapefruit products may interact with Viagra (Sildenafil) and cause unwanted side effects.
