Description

What is Levitra?

Levitra is an erectile dysfunction medicine containing the active ingredient Vardenafil. Levitra works by increasing blood flow to the penis, allowing the two large chambers to fill up more effectively. The result is a harder, longer lasting erection for a more enjoyable sexual experience.

Levitra will only help to achieve an erection when stimulation occurs. Simply taking a tablet will not lead to an instant or permanent erection.

Why Levitra?

Like other impotence medications, Levitra is designed to improve a man’s ability to gain and maintain an erection during sexual activity. By acting quickly and helping to enhance the hardness of an erection, all erectile dysfunction treatments are intended to improve confidence and leave a man feeling more comfortable and relaxed in their sex life.

Levitra has grown in popularity because it typically enables an erection to be achieved quicker and last longer than with Viagra. Any side effects experienced as a result of taking Levitra are milder than those attributed to Viagra.

Levitra is also a more suitable impotence medication than Viagra for diabetics and those with either high cholesterol or high blood pressure.

It can be used:

  • By men of all ages
  • No matter how severe erectile dysfunction may be
  • By men who have undergone a prostatectomy or have had partial removal of their prostate

Like many of the other impotence medications, Levitra is a PDE-5 (phosphodiesterase type 5) inhibitor. This means that the drug suppress a specific enzyme in the body in order to allow more blood to flow through the blood vessels in the penis. However, the active ingredient in Levitra is Vardenafil as opposed to the active ingredient Sildenafil found in Viagra.

Levitra is a fast-acting erectile dysfunction medication but has a shorter half life than many other alternatives. It can take just 60 minutes to take effect, but has an estimated half life of 4 hours. Overall effectiveness is considered to be limited to 12 hours.

How to use

Levitra is an impotence medicine that is ingested orally in tablet form. It is important to take Levitra exactly as prescribed by your pharmacist or doctor. Always follow the directions attached to your prescription, and if in doubt, consult a health professional before ingesting any medicine.

Levitra is available in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg tablets depending on your prescription and should be taken up to an hour before intercourse. Tablets may be ingested with or without food, but bear in mind that medication taken at the same time as eating heavy foods may lead to a slight delay in effectiveness.

Do not take Levitra more than once each day. Always adhere to the dosage prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you accidentally take more than this you should seek immediate medical attention.

Do not split tablets. Splitting tablets can lead to inadequate doses, making the treatment ineffective.

Do not use other erectile dysfunction medicines or treatments at the same time as Levitra. Mixing Levitra with Viagra, Cialis or another impotence drug can be dangerous for your health. It is also worth discussing any other medicines with your doctor before any course of erectile dysfunction treatment. Some drugs may interact with vardenafil or counteract its effectiveness.

Do not take Levitra if you are allergic to Vardenafil. If you experience any symptoms of an allergic reaction you should call your healthcare provider immediately. Signs of an allergic reaction may include a rash, hives, or swelling of the lips, tongue or throat – which can lead to difficulty breathing and swallowing.

Avoid drinking too much alcohol when taking Levitra. Drinking alcohol can increase the likelihood of certain side effects associated with Levitra, such as headaches and dizziness. Excessive consumption of alcohol also counteracts the effectiveness of any impotence medication and makes it harder to establish an erection.

Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice. Grapefruit products may interact with vardenafil and cause unwanted side effects.

Side Effects

The majority of men using Levitra will never experience any side effects. In a small number of cases, however, it is possible to experience a number of mild issues that typically go away within a few hours. These can include:

  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Flushing
  • Upset stomach
  • Stuffy or runny nose
  • In rare cases some men may experience more serious issues such as back pain and muscle pains, which can begin between 12 and 24 hours after taking Levitra. These may go on for up to two days.

Seek medical attention if you experience troublesome side effects that do not go away.
